A long-unused stretch of the Bath and Hammondsport Rail Corridor could soon become a tourist draw, according to the Corning Leader. Finger Lakes Rail Riders is eyeing a 2.9-mile section for future rail bike excursions.
Backed by $400,000 in grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission and Steuben County IDA, the project will stabilize the tracks, improve access, and prepare the site for tourism use. A survey is underway, with decisions expected by spring 2026.
Local leaders say the plan could boost jobs, revenue, and rural tourism.
