Deputies arrested a Port Byron man last week after he allegedly violated a court-issued order of protection by sending text messages to the protected party.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Eric C. Vroman was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and aggravated family offense, a felony.
Deputies responded to the complaint on August 18 at a home in Montezuma. Investigators say Vroman’s past domestic violence convictions led to the felony charge.
He was taken into custody on August 21 and arraigned. Vroman was remanded and is due back in Montezuma Town Court on August 27 at 6 p.m.
