Kyle McCord’s NFL story will continue in the same city, even if it’s not the path he first envisioned.
The former Syracuse quarterback cleared waivers after being cut from the Philadelphia Eagles’ 53-man roster earlier this week, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that McCord has agreed to rejoin the team on their practice squad.
The sixth-round pick had been battling to stick as the team’s third quarterback, but last Sunday’s trade for Sam Howell effectively closed that opportunity. McCord is now behind Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, and Howell.
McCord completed 24-of-56 passes for 191 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions during the preseason.
The 22-year-old, who transferred from Ohio State to Syracuse last year, rewrote the program’s record book with 4,779 passing yards and 34 touchdowns.
