Storm damages State Fair exhibits, halts events

Severe thunderstorms slammed the New York State Fair on Sunday, toppling tents and collapsing a $100,000 jumbotron at the State Police exhibit, according to WSYR.

Fair officials shut down the gates for two hours as visitors sheltered from heavy rain and wind.

Flooding hit the west end of the fairgrounds, but officials credited their new text alert system for helping manage the chaos. Over 5,000 people signed up during the storm, ensuring real-time updates.
