It was a packed Monday for the Fleming Fire Department, which responded to two major tractor-trailer accidents and multiple medical emergencies across Cayuga County.

The first call came in around 11:13 a.m. for a crash at the intersection of State Route 34 and Glanville Road. Fleming Ambulance and Rescue crews arrived to find a tractor-trailer involved in a serious accident.
Units from Fleming, including RP-1, E2, E4, and Squads 1 and 2, responded. Firefighters secured the scene and removed the patient from the vehicle. Auburn City Ambulance and Mercy Flight transported the patient by air to Upstate University Hospital. Crews remained on scene until about 2:30 p.m. Mutual aid came from both Owasco and Auburn fire departments.
Just minutes later, at 2:36 p.m., Fleming’s RP-1 unit was called to assist at a second tractor-trailer rollover in the Aurelius Fire District. That unit was ultimately redirected to provide standby coverage at the Aurelius East Station as local crews continued working the scene.
Despite the back-to-back vehicle accidents, Fleming firefighters also managed to handle multiple EMS calls throughout the day.
