Bills to bring back DT Jordan Phillips for fourth stint

As NFL clubs trim rosters to 53 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, the Buffalo Bills are set to bring back a familiar name to their defensive front.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips worked out for the team on Sunday and is expected to sign later this week. When the deal is finalized, it will mark Phillips’ fourth stint in Buffalo.

Phillips was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2015 and first joined the Bills in 2018 after being waived. He quickly made an impact, highlighted by a career-best 9.5 sacks in 2019, which earned him a lucrative three-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.

Injuries cut short his time with the Cardinals, leading to a return to Buffalo in 2022. After two more seasons with the Bills, Phillips spent brief stretches with the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys in 2024. He was released last November and found his way back to Orchard Park once again, appearing in seven games while posting five tackles and an interception.

Phillips will join an already crowded defensive tackle room that includes veterans Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, and DeWayne Carter as well as rookies T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker.
