In Lyons, a new class of future deputies is spending the summer getting physically and mentally ready to serve.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office shared an update on its second group of Guardian Recruits, who are working toward becoming Deputy Sheriffs through a rigorous preparation program.
Recruits train weekly for the department’s physical agility test, with mentors joining them for practice and mock PT exams. Alongside fitness, the program also focuses on structure, discipline, and the day-to-day realities of the job.
One recruit is recognized each week for standout performance among peers.
The Sheriff’s Office encourages community members to follow their journey on the Guardian Recruit Facebook page.
