$10K theft at Victor Walmart leads to employee arrest

A Walmart employee in Victor is facing felony charges after deputies say he walked out with more than $10,000 in cash.

David Ashworth, 51, was arrested on Sunday and charged with third-degree grand larceny. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says the theft happened during his shift at the Commerce Drive store on August 14.

Investigators say Ashworth took the money from a register, hid the pouch, and later concealed it on his body before leaving the store. A total of $10,047 was reported missing.

Ashworth was arraigned Monday in CAP Court and released on his own recognizance. He’s expected to return to the Town of Victor Court at a later date.
