Twelve cannabis store owners are suing New York over a sudden change in how far dispensaries must be from schools, according to the Times Union.
State regulators reinterpreted the law to require 500 feet from a school’s property line — not its front door — putting 152 existing or planned shops at risk. The Office of Cannabis Management says those stores won’t be shut down yet, but license renewals could be denied.
Owners want a court to block the new rule and guarantee they can keep their current locations.
