Juan & Maria’s Empanada Stop has closed its Marketplace Mall location after two years, citing low foot traffic, according to the Democrat and Chronicle. That leaves Coffee Connection as the only active food vendor.
Owners Ben and Melissa Contreras had high hopes due to the mall’s location near a major medical center, but mounting vacancies signaled trouble early on. Despite the closure, their Public Market stand and catering business remain strong.
Another listed vendor, Good News Stand, appeared shuttered during a recent visit. The mall has not provided updates.
