Felony charges follow Fayette incident and investigation

A routine traffic stop in the Town of Fayette led to felony drug charges for two Waterloo residents last week.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested Joshua C. Trout, of Swift Street, and Sue A. Huling, of Waterloo-Geneva Road, on August 7 after pulling over a vehicle with an expired inspection. Deputies say both were inside the car.

During the stop, deputies saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. A search of the vehicle turned up several individually packaged portions of what appeared to be crack cocaine, along with a digital scale. Deputies also noted both Trout and Huling made “furtive movements” before the stop, later learning they were trying to hide the suspected narcotics.

The pair was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with Intent to Sell (Class B felony)
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class E felony)

Narcotics investigators were called to the scene to assist. Trout and Huling were taken to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center for processing and arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Court. They’re scheduled to appear in Fayette Town Court.
