Lane reductions coming to Routes 21 and 63 in Wayland

Drivers in Wayland should expect delays starting Wednesday as construction crews begin a pavement rehab project on Routes 21 and 63.

The New York State Department of Transportation says the affected stretch runs from Southview Drive to Wayland Cohocton High School. Starting August 13 through August 19, the road will be reduced to a single lane on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Traffic will be controlled by flaggers, and drivers are urged to seek alternate routes if possible. All work is weather-dependent and could change based on conditions.

Officials are also reminding motorists to slow down in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding, and repeat offenses could lead to license suspension.
