Ex-congressman Collins eyes Florida comeback

Chris Collins, once jailed for insider trading, now wants a political reboot in Florida, according to Spectrum News 1. The former New York congressman says he’ll run in 2026 for Florida’s 19th District — the seat Republican Byron Donalds will vacate while running for governor.

Collins resigned from Congress in 2019 after pleading guilty, but was pardoned by Donald Trump just two months into his prison sentence. He’s lived in Florida since and has teased a return since 2023.

At 75, Collins says he’s ready for a second chance and hopes to reclaim both his seat and his reputation.
