A fence fire spread to a Bath home and nearby vehicle early Monday, with flames reaching toward the second floor before crews brought it under control, according to Fire Chief Mike Fiordo. The call to 220 Liberty Street came in at 4:26 a.m., prompting a second alarm for more resources.
Firefighters focused on the rear of the building to stop the blaze from spreading further. Mutual aid came from Bath VA, Hammondsport, Kanona, and Painted Post fire departments, along with Bath Ambulance and Steuben County Emergency Services. Bath Police, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police cleared the building before fire crews arrived.
No injuries were reported, and the cause is still under investigation. Bath Fire units were back in service by 8:28 a.m.
