Yankees activate Aaron Judge, reshuffle bullpen in flurry of roster moves

The New York Yankees captain is back.

On Tuesday, the team activated Aaron Judge from the injured list in a series of roster moves ahead of their second game in Arlington against the Texas Rangers.

The reigning American League Most Valuable Player spent the minimum 10 days on the injured list with a right elbow flexor strain, suffered on a throw back to the infield in Toronto two weeks ago. He took on-field batting practice over the last few days and spent time at the Yankees minor-league complex in Tampa facing live pitching to get ready.

To make room on the active roster, New York placed recently acquired outfielder Austin Slater on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain.

The Yankees also made several bullpen moves, most notably sending Jake Bird to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after acquiring him just five days ago from the Colorado Rockies. Bird struggled in his first three appearances with New York, allowing a grand slam and a walk-off three-run home run.

Additionally, Mark Leiter Jr. was reinstated from the injured list, JT Brubaker was designated for assignment, and Yerry De Los Santos was recalled from Triple-A.
