The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will renumber all campsites at Fish Creek Pond Campground in the Adirondacks ahead of the 2026 camping season, pausing reservations until December.
Located in Saranac Lake, the popular campground will also introduce upgraded “Family Site” options that offer more space for people, vehicles, and equipment, according to the DEC.
Officials said the new numbering system will fix long-standing issues with non-sequential campsite numbers, helping campers navigate the facility more easily.
“The renumbering will correct the non-sequential campsite numbers in the facility and make navigating the campground easier for visitors,” the department said in a release.
DEC is also continuing improvements across the campground. The new Family Sites are part of an effort to meet growing demand for larger accommodations.
Camping reservations for the 2026 season are expected to resume around December. The department said it will provide advance notice and announce the go-live date once renumbering is complete.
Fish Creek Pond is one of 51 campgrounds and four day-use areas operated by DEC in the Adirondack and Catskill Forest Preserves. The regular camping season begins in mid-May and runs through the summer, with some locations staying open into fall.
