Lodi father and son arrested on weapons charges

A father and son from Lodi were arrested this week after investigators discovered a cache of illegally possessed firearms and ammunition in their home, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.

Keith S. Dickinson, 72, and Joshua L. Dickinson, 47, were arrested on July 30 and 31 following an investigation that uncovered 23 long guns, two unregistered pistols, and nine extended rifle magazines. Authorities say both men had prior criminal convictions prohibiting them from owning firearms.

The Sheriff’s Office charged the Dickinsons with 13 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and 25 counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Joshua Dickinson faces an additional charge of second-degree criminal contempt for violating an active court order that required him to surrender all firearms.

All of the weapons were found inside the Dickinsons’ residence. Investigators said the contempt charge stemmed from Joshua’s failure to comply with an order of protection issued prior to the arrest.

Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where they are being held pending arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
