The Moravia school board has tapped a recently retired administrator to guide the district through a year of transition, according to The Citizen.
Thomas Turck, former superintendent of Homer Central Schools, began work July 24 as interim superintendent for the 2025–26 academic year. He’ll earn $900 per day while the board searches for a permanent replacement. That search begins this fall, with hopes of appointing someone by July 2026.
Turck replaces Concetta Galvan, who served briefly as acting superintendent. Her new role will be as a short-term transition consultant. The leadership change follows former superintendent John Birmingham’s abrupt June departure and a $285,000 separation agreement that bars legal claims against the district.
