Yankees acquire Amed Rosario from Nationals to bolster infield depth

The New York Yankees continued reshaping their infield Saturday night by acquiring veteran Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals.

In return, New York sent right-hander Clayton Beeter and 18-year-old outfield prospect Browm Martinez to D.C.

Rosario, 29, is enjoying one of the most productive seasons of his nine-year career, slashing .270/.310/.426 with five home runs and a career-best 109 OPS+ over 46 games. Known for his versatility, Rosario has played primarily second and third base in 2025 but brings experience at shortstop and in the outfield.

A right-handed hitter, Rosario has consistently excelled against lefties, posting a .298 career batting average and .816 OPS against them this season.

The deal marks Rosario’s return to New York, where he spent four seasons with the Mets after rising through their system as a top prospect.

Beeter, ranked the Yankees’ No. 20 prospect by MLB Pipeline, had been a key depth arm in the organization, while Martinez has impressed in the Dominican Summer League with a 1.139 OPS through 18 games.

This move comes just one day after the Yankees acquired third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies.
