Seneca County eyes return of deputy manager role

Seneca County may soon reinstate its deputy county manager position, according to the Finger Lakes Times. A public hearing is set for August 12 as leaders consider using the role as a stepping stone toward hiring a long-term county manager.

The position was cut in 2024, but with the county manager seat vacant since June of that year, Board Chair Mike Enslow has been handling duties himself, aided by consultants. He hopes the new hire can support operations immediately and, if successful, transition into the top leadership role.

Officials also aim to expand the applicant pool by allowing out-of-county residents to apply.
