Driver airlifted after crash with tractor trailer in Wolcott

A man was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital with life-threatening injuries after his vehicle collided with a tractor trailer in Wayne County.

The crash happened on the morning of July 14 at the intersection of State Route 104 and State Route 370 in the Town of Wolcott.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, a tractor trailer operated by Jeremie Faustin, 47, of Orlando, Florida, was attempting to turn west onto Route 104 when it allegedly failed to yield the right of way. The trailer was then struck by a vehicle traveling east on Route 104, driven by Ahmed K. Sulieman, 26, of Henrietta, New York.

Deputies said fire crews had to extricate Sulieman from the vehicle. He was then flown by helicopter to Upstate Medical in Syracuse with what authorities described as life-threatening injuries.

Responders included Red Creek Fire, Lakeshore Ambulance, Wayne County Ambulance, and Wayne County ALS.
