McDonald’s menu change update: Spicy McMuffin and Snack Wrap return

McDonald’s is spicing things up this week with two major menu updates that blend nostalgia with bold flavor. Beginning today customers across the U.S. will find new and returning favorites on menus nationwide.

These changes mark a strategic shift as the company responds to customer demand and rising interest in spicy food options.

Spicy McMuffin sandwiches make debut today!

Starting today, McDonald’s breakfast menu gets a fiery makeover. The chain has introduced a limited-time Spicy McMuffin lineup featuring its new Spicy Pepper Sauce—a bold twist aimed at younger, heat-loving consumers.

The spicy sandwich options include:

  • Egg McMuffin with Spicy Pepper Sauce
  • Spicy Sausage McMuffin
  • Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg

The Spicy Pepper Sauce adds a kick to McDonald’s classic breakfast staple, first introduced in 1972. The move taps into a growing trend—over 74% of Americans regularly use hot sauce, with Gen Z showing the strongest preference for spicy food.

“Starting July 8, you can add some kick to your morning routine,” McDonald’s said in a statement. “This glow-up includes everything you already love about the Egg McMuffin — plus a fiery, delicious twist.”

Snack Wraps officially return July 10

Fans have long begged for the return of McDonald’s iconic Snack Wrap, and now it’s official: the item returns to menus on Thursday, July 10, after nearly a decade of absence.

Each wrap includes:

  • A McCrispy chicken strip
  • Shredded lettuce
  • A blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese
  • A choice of Spicy Pepper Sauce or Ranch
  • All wrapped in a flour tortilla

The Snack Wraps will be available à la carte or as part of a combo meal. According to McDonald’s, this isn’t just a test—it’s here to stay. However, prices will vary by location.

“You created a movement,” the company posted last month. “A movement so powerful that you finally won.”

Why this matters for customers

These changes reflect a broader shift at McDonald’s as it looks to:

  • Win back younger, flavor-seeking customers
  • Reconnect with long-time fans nostalgic for discontinued menu items
  • Expand breakfast offerings with bold new options

The menu refresh also builds momentum after the May launch of McCrispy Strips, now featured in the new Snack Wraps.

What to expect this week

  • July 8: Spicy McMuffin sandwiches available nationwide
  • July 10: Snack Wraps return to all U.S. locations
  • Both items feature the new Spicy Pepper Sauce
  • Prices vary by location, availability may be limited

Whether you’re craving heat in the morning or celebrating the return of a cult favorite, McDonald’s has something new for you this week.
