A Wayne County Jail inmate is facing new charges after allegedly selling his food stamp benefits earlier this year.
Geoffery D. Evans, 25, was charged with misuse of food stamps and petit larceny, according to a press release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators allege Evans sold $289.96 worth of his SNAP benefits to another individual on March 2.
The charges were filed in coordination with the Wayne County Department of Social Services. Evans, who remains in custody on unrelated charges, was issued an appearance ticket and returned to the Wayne County Jail.
He is scheduled to appear in Lyons Town Court at a later date.
