The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce has received national recognition, earning a prestigious accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that places it among the top-performing chambers in the country.
The designation, which less than 3% of chambers nationwide currently hold, honors excellence in leadership, governance, and member service. The Watkins Glen Chamber is now one of just six accredited chambers in New York State.
“Chambers of commerce that achieve an Accreditation designation are leaders in the industry,” said Raymond P. Towle, U.S. Chamber Vice President of Federation Relations and IOM. “This rigorous review includes all aspects of a chamber’s policies, operations, and programming.”
Towle said the distinction signals an organization’s ongoing advocacy of free enterprise and its commitment to members and local businesses.
To qualify, the Chamber completed a thorough self-assessment over two and a half years. The review covered human resources, governance, government affairs, technology, communications, and more. The U.S. Chamber’s Accreditation Program sets high standards aimed at strengthening chambers and promoting a pro-business climate across the country.
Executive Director Nigar Hale praised her team’s dedication and strategic vision.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work, commitment, and strategic vision of our team and board of directors,” Hale said. “We are proud to serve the Schuyler County business community and are honored to be recognized on a national level for the high standards we uphold.”
The Watkins Glen Area Chamber represents more than 450 members and plays a central role in boosting economic growth and tourism in the Finger Lakes region. The accreditation reinforces its mission to support local enterprises and promote the area as a premier destination to live, work, and visit.
