Two Pennsylvania men charged after Eastview Mall theft

Two men from Pennsylvania were charged after a shoplifting incident at Macy’s in the Eastview Mall led to their arrest Friday afternoon, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Ibrahim Mganga, 18, of Benton Avenue in Pittsburgh, and Hassan Mberwa, 20, of 8th Street in Ambridge, were taken into custody after allegedly stealing merchandise from the department store without paying.

Deputies say the two men selected items and passed all points of sale without rendering payment for $63 worth of merchandise. Mganga was previously banned from all Macy’s locations following a 2024 incident in Ross Park, Pennsylvania. As a result, he was charged with burglary in the third degree in addition to petit larceny. He was transported to the Ontario County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court.

Mberwa was charged with petit larceny and issued an appearance ticket. Both suspects are scheduled to appear in the Town of Victor Court at a later date.

The case was investigated by Deputy M. Giaconia, with assistance from Deputy D. Fischer.
