New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation has launched an interactive web portal that maps more than 2,100 water quality and habitat projects funded across the state, officials announced Friday.
The Division of Water Grants Data Portal allows users to explore nearly $1.7 billion in state investments made over the past 30 years. The tool highlights grant-funded work to reduce pollution, restore habitats, and improve flood resilience through two major DEC programs.
“The streamlined mapper offers quick and easy access to water quality grant data,” said DEC Commissioner Amanda Lefton. “It’s a beneficial way for everyone to see how, when, and where New York State is working to improve water quality.”
The portal includes details on the Water Quality Improvement Project and Non-Agricultural Nonpoint Source Planning and MS4 Mapping Grant programs. A new round of grant applications is open until July 31, with at least $78 million available.
The grants support projects such as wastewater upgrades, stormwater management, aquatic habitat restoration, and dam repairs. Eligible applicants include municipalities, Indian Nations, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and nonprofits.
