A Wayne County man was arrested Friday after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash while driving under the influence of drugs, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies identified the suspect as Brian A. Dejonge, 31, of Ressue Road in the Town of Arcadia. He was taken into custody following a traffic stop in the Village of Palmyra.
Authorities say the incident began around noon on June 27, when deputies responded to a reported hit-and-run crash near Route 31 and Vienna Road in the Town of Palmyra. The suspect vehicle was soon spotted traveling westbound and stopped at East Main Street and Church Street.
Deputies determined that Dejonge was impaired by drugs. After a Drug Recognition Evaluation, he was charged with driving while intoxicated by drugs and issued several other vehicle and traffic citations.
Dejonge was released on appearance tickets and is expected to answer the charges in court at a later date.
