Four hospitalized after rollover crash in Manchester

A collision at a busy intersection in the Town of Manchester sent four people to the hospital Friday afternoon, including two children, after their van was struck and overturned.

Deputies from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 12:42 p.m. at the intersection of Armington Road and State Route 21. A white Toyota van traveling northbound on Route 21 was hit by a tan Dodge Caravan entering the intersection from Armington Road.

According to investigators, 47-year-old Mary Magistrado of Farmington failed to yield the right of way after letting another vehicle pass, then proceeded into the intersection and struck the Toyota on the driver’s side rear door. The impact forced the Toyota onto a guard rail, causing it to roll over onto its passenger side.

The van was operated by 62-year-old Latricia Booth of Gahanna, Ohio, with 30-year-old Shaylin Niver in the front passenger seat and two juveniles in the back. All four were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

Magistrado was evaluated at the scene but declined further treatment. She was cited for failure to yield and unsafe start. Wayne County EMS and the Palmyra Fire Department assisted at the scene.
