The Victor Fire District is raising concerns after the Fishers Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners passed a resolution to dissolve their district without consulting Victor officials or providing advance notice.
In a statement released June 25, Victor Fire District said neither its leadership nor the Board of Fire Commissioners were informed about the June 18 decision by Fishers officials. The move, if finalized, could significantly alter emergency services in the Town of Victor.
“This unprecedented change to emergency services within the town of Victor” came without warning, the Victor Fire District stated, adding that it will “continue to monitor this developing situation.”
A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for July 16. At that time, the Fishers board may approve, amend, or reject the plan. If adopted, the plan must be enacted within 180 days and would take effect on a date yet to be specified.
While expressing surprise at the decision, Victor Fire District emphasized that its officers and board remain focused on providing “uninterrupted, prompt, dedicated, and skilled fire service” to the community.
