Republican voters in Ontario County will head to the polls Tuesday to choose between District Attorney James Ritts and challenger Jason MacBride. The race is the only countywide primary this cycle and has drawn scrutiny over ethics and leadership.
MacBride, a veteran prosecutor, entered the race after criticizing a courthouse party hosted by Ritts that included costumes and karaoke. Ritts, seeking a third term, defends the event as tradition and points to a high conviction rate as evidence of success.
More than 29,000 registered Republicans can vote in this primary, which also includes local contests in five towns. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. across all 44 sites.
