NY leaders divided over Iran strike fallout

New York’s political response splintered after U.S. forces struck Iranian nuclear sites, a move announced by President Trump. While Republican lawmakers hailed it as necessary, Democrats warned of dangerous consequences, Spectrum News reported Sunday.

Representatives Mike Lawler and Elise Stefanik backed the military action, framing it as a firm stand against Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Others, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Hakeem Jeffries, condemned the decision—labeling it impulsive and calling for immediate congressional oversight. Gov. Kathy Hochul focused on protecting New Yorkers, while Sen. Gillibrand demanded transparency from the White House.

Trump claimed the attacks “obliterated” Iran’s facilities. But Iran’s leadership declared diplomacy dead, asserting a right to retaliate, further escalating tensions.
