Chisholm was the spark plug throughout the game, first doubling and scoring the Yankees’ first run in the second inning on DJ LeMahieu’s RBI single. He collided with Baltimore catcher Maverick Handley on a play at the plate that forced Handley out of the game, but Chisholm stayed in and proved crucial late.

In the eighth, with the Yankees still trailing 2-1 and struggling with runners in scoring position, Chisholm ripped a 3-0 pitch into the right-center field gap, plating two and giving New York its first lead of the day. Moments later, he came around to score the fourth run on a chopper that Baltimore couldn’t convert into an out at the plate.

Yankees starter Will Warren overcame a shaky first inning, where he allowed two runs on RBI hits by Ryan O’Hearn and Colton Cowser, to give New York 6.1 strong innings. He allowed six hits, struck out six, and walked two in one of his more composed outings of the season.

Fernando Cruz preserved the one-run deficit in the top of the eighth by striking out three straight after two inherited runners reached base. Devin Williams handled the ninth with ease to earn the save.
