A man was found dead of an apparent suicide Friday morning after allegedly killing another man during a domestic dispute in the village of Addison, according to New York State Police.
Authorities said the violence began around 7:00 a.m. on Academy Street, when a 45-year-old man confronted a 43-year-old woman and her 41-year-old male partner at a residence. After a dispute, the suspect reportedly left the home but returned shortly afterward and shot the 41-year-old man, killing him.
The suspect fled in a vehicle and later crashed near Wall Street. Troopers found him deceased in a nearby wooded area from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The woman involved in the dispute was not physically harmed during the incident.
Autopsies will be conducted to determine the official causes of death. Police stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public and no other suspects are being sought.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the Addison Police Department assisted State Police at the scene. The investigation remains active.
