A Guatemalan citizen who returned to the United States after being deported has pleaded guilty to illegal reentry and was sentenced to time served.
U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced Tuesday that Wilson Oswaldo Galvan-Lopez, 25, entered his guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca. Following sentencing, he was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Prosecutors said Galvan-Lopez was deported to Guatemala in May 2023. He reentered the U.S. without authorization and was found on March 24 during a traffic stop on Orange Street in Rochester.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative focused on dismantling illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations.
