Driver ticketed after reckless crash in Penn Yan

  • Staff Report

A woman was cited for multiple traffic violations after a dramatic rollover crash at the intersection of Main and Seneca Streets on Monday afternoon, according to Penn Yan Police.

Jessica Hathaway was behind the wheel when she allegedly passed a stopped vehicle on the right, ran two red lights, and nearly struck a bicyclist before crashing into a stopped car. Her vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof, temporarily trapping her inside.

Police were able to pry the door open and free Hathaway. Both she and the other driver were treated at the scene by Penn Yan Ambulance for minor injuries.

Hathaway was issued tickets for reckless driving, passing on the right, running red lights, failing to keep right, and driving at an unreasonable speed. She is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
