An Ithaca physician is among 17 doctors ousted from a federal vaccine advisory council by the Trump administration, according to The Ithaca Voice. Dr. Jamie Loehr, appointed in 2021, was set to finish his term this month before being abruptly removed from the CDC’s Advisory Council on Immunization Practices.
U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called the move a “clean sweep” to restore trust in vaccine science, though critics note his long history of promoting vaccine skepticism. Cornell medical professor Dr. Mini Kamboj was also dismissed.
New members for the influential advisory group, which helps shape vaccine policy nationwide, have yet to be announced.
