The Village of Clyde is working to join Newark as an official Empire State Trail Town, aiming to attract cyclists traveling the Erie Canalway Trail, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Leaders hope better amenities will get bikers to stop and spend time—and money—in the community.
Nonprofit Parks and Trails New York held a workshop this week in Clyde to assess local trail conditions and advise on improvements. The group helps towns boost tourism by enhancing access, signage, rest areas, and services like food and lodging.
With bathrooms already in place at Lauraville Landing and a central park admired by planners, Clyde is well-positioned to earn the designation.
