Wegmans shoppers across New York can expect lower prices on dozens of summer favorites—just in time for cookout season.

The Rochester-based grocery chain announced a seasonal discount on over 20 items commonly used in summer meals, including steaks, vegetables, buns, sauces, and frozen treats. The price drops are part of the company’s ongoing “hot zone” pricing initiative to keep essential groceries affordable throughout the year.

“We aim to help our customers easily prepare healthy, affordable meals year-round,” said Tom Way, Wegmans senior vice president of pricing, analytics and insights, in a May 20 statement.

Here’s what shoppers need to know.

What items are discounted this summer?

The summer price cuts are available at most Wegmans locations across New York, excluding stores in Astor Place, Brooklyn, and Harrison. The discount list features family packs of meats, fresh produce, pantry staples, and classic summer snacks.

Discounted items include:

  • Ice cream sandwiches: $2.99 (Shoppers Club)

These deals are accessible to Wegmans Shoppers Club members at most stores throughout the state, including 17 locations in the Rochester area.

Why is Wegmans cutting prices now?

The grocery chain’s pricing strategy comes amid ongoing inflation concerns and rising costs of summer essentials nationwide. Wegmans says the goal is to give families an affordable way to enjoy seasonal meals, especially ahead of holidays like Independence Day and Labor Day.

The “hot zone” program offers rotating deals on household staples, with seasonal adjustments designed to meet customer needs.

What happens next?

Wegmans is expected to continue rotating discounts through the summer, though no end date for the current round of price cuts has been specified. Shoppers are encouraged to check local store flyers or the Wegmans website for weekly updates.
