A Clifton Springs family escaped unharmed Monday morning after a fire broke out in their Pearl Street home.
Ontario County deputies responded to the scene at approximately 8:59 a.m., where they found heavy smoke pouring from both levels of the residence. The homeowner had been inside with his two children when he noticed smoke coming from the kitchen. He immediately exited the home with both children.
Multiple fire departments—including Clifton Springs, Shortsville, Seneca Castle, Gorham, and Victor—responded and worked together to contain the blaze. Investigators confirmed the fire originated in the kitchen, though the cause remains under investigation by the Ontario County Fire Coordinators Office.
The home has been deemed unfit for occupancy.
