Seneca County’s Local Development Corporation is launching an effort to overhaul its economic development strategy, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Consultants urged the board to prioritize key sites like the former Willard Psychiatric Center, with a revised plan expected within nine months. Officials stressed collaboration between county planning, the IDA, and local stakeholders, while identifying barriers such as zoning conflicts and limited site access.
A new steering committee will guide the process, and members approved a draft budget allocating $250,000 to fund planning efforts and investments. Leaders emphasized aligning the Willard site’s future with broader economic goals for the entire county.
