All 12 Republicans voted in favor of the Seneca Falls native, while Democrats avoided casting a formal “no” vote.
Bove, currently a senior Justice Department official, is set to join the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit if confirmed. Despite objections and heated remarks from Sens. Cory Booker and Mazie Hirono, no new evidence against Bove surfaced, leading Republicans to label the opposition as purely political.
Sen. Chuck Grassley condemned what he called partisan obstruction, suggesting Democrats fear Bove’s appointment would restore balance to the judiciary.
