Multiple DWI and drug-impaired driving convictions reported in Cayuga County

Auburn’s top prosecutor has announced a series of impaired driving convictions across Cayuga County stemming from arrests in May.

Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci reported that Kerry Hoffman of Auburn was convicted of felony aggravated driving while intoxicated. Hoffman faces a potential sentence of up to seven years in prison due to the severity of the offense and prior convictions.

In addition, ten other individuals were convicted of misdemeanor-level Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs (DWAI Drugs). Among them were Bryan Simmons of Weedsport, Michael McLaughlin of Auburn, and Brooke Wuilliez of Rochester. All were arrested in various locations including Auburn, Aurelius, Throop, and Sennett.

Two individuals—Tiffany Skar and Gabrielle Hidy—were specifically convicted of DWAI Drugs. According to the DA’s office, misdemeanor DWI or DWAI convictions carry penalties of up to one year in jail, license revocation of at least six months, and fines ranging from $500 to $10,000. Installation of an ignition interlock device is also mandatory for all convicted drivers.
