A new chapter of Moms for Liberty has opened in Yates County, marking the group’s first presence in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions, according to a release from the organization. The chapter becomes the 15th in New York and joins more than 300 nationwide.
Led by Anneke Wheeler, the group aims to improve local education and strengthen parental involvement in schools. Citing low reading proficiency rates in area districts, Wheeler said the chapter will advocate for a stronger focus on core subjects and career readiness.
The group describes itself as a grassroots, non-partisan movement focused on liberty and parental rights. Members plan to work with local leaders to influence education policy and promote civic engagement.
