Fire officials say the cause of a May 14 blaze that destroyed a $1.2 million lakefront home in Owasco has not been determined, according to The Citizen. Despite the extensive damage, the fire is not considered suspicious, said Owasco Fire Chief Jeremy VeVone.
No injuries were reported, as the homeowners—John and Susanne Lovisolo of New Jersey—were not present. Multiple departments responded, including crews from Auburn, Fleming, Moravia, and Skaneateles, with firefighters on scene for nine hours.
The homeowners are now working with code enforcement to rebuild. VeVone called it the town’s most significant fire in years and praised the mutual aid response.
