Fleming man charged with theft of beer from convenience store

A Fleming man is facing a petit larceny charge after allegedly stealing a single can of beer from a local business, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested 43-year-old Matthew R. McKay on May 31 following an investigation into a March 7 theft at the Pit Stop convenience store in the Town of Fleming. Authorities say McKay was identified as the individual who stole a 25-ounce can of Budweiser around 11:48 a.m. that day.

Following his arrest, McKay was processed and taken to CAP Court at the Cayuga County Jail due to multiple open cases of a similar nature. He was remanded in lieu of $500 cash bail.
