New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado announced he will run against Gov. Kathy Hochul in next year’s Democratic primary, according to Spectrum News. Delgado called for bold, transformational leadership and said he’s running to change the system—not play by its rules.
Hochul tapped Delgado as her lieutenant governor in 2022, but he revealed earlier this year that he wouldn’t join her reelection ticket. His candidacy marks her first official challenge, though Rep. Ritchie Torres is also weighing a run.
Delgado will speak more about his campaign Tuesday night on NY1’s “Inside City Hall.”
