Senators are bracing for a high-stakes debate as President Donald Trump’s sweeping One Big Beautiful Bill Act heads to the Senate floor, according to Spectrum News. The legislation, already passed by the House, proposes steep cuts to Medicaid that opponents say would severely impact healthcare access.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries led a rally in Brooklyn, warning the bill could strip coverage from 1.5 million New Yorkers and cost hospitals over $3 billion. Jeffries blasted the state’s GOP House delegation, accusing them of enabling Trump’s agenda, while Hochul called the proposal a “wrecking ball” targeting vulnerable groups.
The bill seeks to slash $700 billion in Medicaid funding and impose new work requirements. The Senate may revise the measure, which would send it back to the House for another vote.
