State Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and a representative of Senator Tom O’Mara honored Dundee’s Peyton Mullin on Friday for winning her second straight state wrestling title.

Mullin, a sophomore at Dundee Junior-Senior High School, completed an undefeated 27-0 season by capturing the 235-pound division title at the NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational State Championship held February 25 at Albany’s MVP Arena.

Palmesano and Michael Rogers, Senator O’Mara’s Director of Community Relations, visited the school to present a joint Senate-Assembly resolution celebrating Mullin’s achievements. Mullin was joined by her parents, DJ and Leslie, along with coaches, teammates, and school officials.

“Peyton Mullin continued her remarkable run of state championships this season,” the legislators said in a joint statement. “She stands as a source of deep pride for our entire region… with her sight set on the Olympics.”

Mullin began wrestling at age four and has already amassed over 150 career victories. She is also a two-time NYWAY state champion and a girls Wayne-Finger Lakes League champion. Beyond wrestling, she excels in track and field, having won a Section V shot put title.

Dundee Superintendent Chris Wood described Mullin as “a model of perseverance and multifaceted achievement,” and Athletic Director Scott Shepardson called her a “straight A student who takes a great deal of pride in everything that she does.”

The resolution recognized her success as “a tribute to Peyton’s own determination, hard work, and skill, as well as to the amazing support she receives from her family, coaches, teammates, and the entire Dundee community.”
