Hotter-than-usual summer expected for New York

Another scorching summer is on tap for New York, with experts warning of higher-than-average temperatures across much of the state, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service and other major outlets. NOAA projects a 50 to 60% chance of above-normal heat for most areas, while the Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a hot, dry season for much of the region.

The Weather Channel and AccuWeather also agree: Summer 2025 will likely be warmer than historical averages. AccuWeather cautioned that millions could face higher energy bills due to increased reliance on cooling systems. Fortunately, rainfall may be slightly above average, offering some relief.

Still, the trend remains troubling, with last year ranking among the hottest ever. Forecasters suggest New Yorkers prepare now for heatwaves, rising humidity, and elevated utility costs.
