Despite a public statement from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suggesting otherwise, the CDC continues to recommend COVID-19 vaccines for healthy children, according to its updated immunization schedule released May 29.
Kennedy, joined by the FDA and NIH chiefs, claimed earlier this week that COVID shots were being removed from routine childhood and prenatal vaccine guidelines. However, the CDC’s current guidance still includes the option, advising parents to consult with doctors based on personal preference and clinical judgment.
The agency maintains that COVID vaccines are available for all children six months and older, aligning with previous recommendations from its expert panel.
